New Game
When you click New Game you will see something like this image.
There are tons of options and it is easy to get confused.
I hope this guide will help you starting the appropriate game.
Quadrant
Quadrant Type:
You can choose different shapes for the map (I advise you cluster).
Quadrant Size:
You can choose different sizes for the map (I advise you large).
-
All warp points connected:
- Definitely yes, otherwise it would be a really unfair game (and you can't explore the full map until you can create your own warp points). -
No warp points:
- Definitely no, because the game would be too slow for be in only one system. -
Warp points located anywhere in system:
- I don't advise it because it will would be too chaotic where you need to go what system is closer etc. . -
All systems seen by all players:
- No, where is the fun of exploring? -
Omnipresent view of all systems:
- No, where is the fun of exploring? -
Finite resources:
- Uhm, if you are a pro it is really hard challenge for you. Good luck. -
All player planets the same size:
- Yes, otherwise it would be a unfair start of the game.
If you are done with the settings you can generate your map.
If you don't like the shape or the size of the map just regenerate it.
There is also an option for importing or exporting your map.
Events
Event Frequency:
You can choose how frequently events happen.
Maximum Event Severity:
How severe the events can be.
All events list (2 mins read).
If you would like a little randomness to your game that is a very good way to do that.
Technology
Technology Cost:
Choose how fast you can research new technologyes. I advise you medium.
Technology Areas Allowed:
You can remove tech areas from this game. Don't do that!
Player Settings
Starting Resources for Player:
The mineral, orgaincs and radioactive resources for starting. If you are a beginner you can choose high.
Home Planet Value:
It is only effecting a little bit the reproduction rate. Chooseing good is a good idea.
Number of Starting Planets
It feels much more 'realistic' if everbody starts with one planet.
Empire Placement:
It would be pot luck choosing the first option so I advise you to don't do that if you are a beginner.
Score Display:
It depends on how much you want to know you everbody's status (the right image).
Technology Level for New Players:
Low is the most 'realistic' for you just begin your journey for exploring the galaxy.
Racial Points for New Players.
It depends on how much bonus you want to get. But what kind of bonus? A little later you will see.
Players
Players in Game / Number of Players:
It represents the human players in this game.
Random Computer Players:
You can choose. Do you want other empires in the game (of course). But what is a netural empire?
Netural empires same as empires but they will remain in one system so they never leave there starting system and
never uses warp points.
Number of Computer Players:
The maximum is 20. If you are playing on a large map it is good to have lots of neighbours.
Computer Player Difficulty:
Basically the only weakness of the game is that the AI is pretty stupid.
After you played a lot you can predic what is there next move.
Because of this I thing putting it high is good idea or otherwise you will get bored in the late game.
Computer Player Bonus:
Some as the previously player bonus but it is for every computer player. Don't worry you will soon see what is this bonus points for.

General Details
Empire Name - What is your empire name?
Empire Type - What is your empire type?
Emperor Title - What is your title?
Emperor Name - What is your name?
Password / Email - Don't worry about them. Just leave it blank.
Race Portrait / Ship Style - Select what do you like best. It is only a 'skin / texture' it counts nothing else.
Everything else at to bottom - Just leave it. Don't touch it.
Environment
You can choose what atmosphere you want to breath your empire. (You can capture other empires races (whoes breath the atmosphere) and put them to your planets so it will count breathable.)
- None: For the first game I don't advise otherwise it would be interenting and probably a challenging game.
- Methane: Pretty good (maybe more gas giants and less rock, ice planets).
- Oxygen: Pretty good (maybe not as much gas giants).
- Hydrogen: Average (maybe less planets overall).
- Carbon Dioxide: Pretty good (maybe not as much ice planets).
You can choose what type you can colonise at the beginning. (You can resarch the two other in early-middle game.)
- Rock: Losts of planets for all sizes.
- Ice: Lots of planets for all sizes (maybe less than rock).
- Gas Giants: Much less planets but all of them is medium, large or huge.
Warning: Where the sentence is in pharanteses this means it is only based on lots of played games so don't take it granted. (Still don't choose none atmosphere for the first game.)
Culture
Culture:
The netural don't give any positive or negative attribute and most of them give some negative attribute with the positive ones but
traders, artisans, scientists, workers, schemers don't give any negative.
So if you don't have a specific playstlye just choose one of the those.
You can also see the attributes in the compare culture modifiers tab.
Do you remember those bonus points we will see later? You can spend it on characteristic or advanced traits. You could see your points in the top right corner.
Characteristic
Pysical/Vocational Characteristic:
You can give more percentage to be better (you can see the resout in the right).
Advenced Traits
Racial Traits:
Here you can obtain useful bonuses. Pretty expensive but some of them may worth it.
Tip: If you set the event frequency to none there is no point selecting lucky. It is just an example but I think you get the point.
Description
Biological/Society Description and General History:
If you are playing single player there is no point putting here anything.
And if you are playing with a friend you can write some fancy stuff here.
From the game perspective it nothing.
Demeanor:
The top one is the worst and the bottom one is the most trustworty.
Happiness Type:
I think the peaceful is the best (it only gives minus happiness when your colonies is in danger and / or nothing there to defend it).
If you are done with your empire click create empire.
Victory Conditions
Do you want an end goal to the game? Whan you destroyed everybody else you still can continue your game. You can leave it as empty.
Game Settings
Game Master Password: Just leave it blank.
Maximum number of units allowed (in space) per player:
It is far not enough if you want to build as many things you want and don't want to limit the game.
Incrementing it to 10.000 or 20.000 is recommened. But remember this is the limit for everone else.
Maximum number of ships allowed per player:
Incrementing it at least 1000 is recommened. But remember this is the limit for everone else.
But if you don't want to mess with 850 different ships and thousands unit than it is a good limit not to ged lost. But it is limit your game so you need to transport units/ships where you want or destroy them to build new ones.
The other settings pretty self explanatory and you can leave it like that.
Mechanics
Play Style / Turn Style / Multiplayer Game Filename:
It is only important when you want to play with other people. If you play single player just leave it.
Save Game Directory Path / Connection Type: You don't need to touch it.
Autosave Frequency:
Every turn is recommened.
Begin Game
Looks like you are done. It took a while but it is time to start your game and build your empire. Good luck.
